April Windsor’s heartbreaking storyline is set to get even darker in a special standalone Emmerdale episode airing tomorrow.

In recent months, after trying to help clear boyfriend Dylan Pender’s debt to Ray Walters, April has found herself pulled into the world of drug dealing.

In an episode airing tomorrow night, the ITV soap is set to deliver a “powerful and unmissable” special that will explore the lives of April and Dawn Fletcher, which has been described as full of “tension, danger, and emotional depth”.

A synopsis teases: “In this special episode, April finds herself entangled in a perilous situation as she attempts to pay off mounting debts. Pressured by Ray, April is forced into increasingly dangerous tasks, leading to a terrifying encounter. The episode will depict April’s desperate struggle for survival.

“Meanwhile, Dawn opens up about her own traumatic past, drawing poignant parallels to April’s current predicament. She bravely recounts her past experiences and highlights her unwavering commitment to protecting her daughter, Clemmie.

“As April grapples with the aftermath of her ordeal, Dawn’s own history serves as a stark reminder of the cycles of vulnerability and the fight for a better future.”

Ahead of the special episode airing, Dawn actor Bromley expressed how important the episode is in how the “harrowing” ongoing storyline plays out.

“This episode is really important because Dawn didn’t have a stable family or home life, which she explains to Joe in this episode, and you can really see how she got herself into such a difficult situation for so many years,” she explained.

“But what’s interesting with April is, she has such a wonderful family, and the world really is her oyster – she’s got a stable, loving home, she’s at school, and yet she’s still managed to go down this path.”
