Emmerdale legend flooded with support as she issues health update ‘I have had a blip’
An actor on Emmerdale has been supported by her co-stars after she shared a health update online.
Laura Norton made her debut on the ITV soap back in 2012, rocking up the Dales as Kerry Wyatt: the mum of Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson). And it didn’t take her long to become a firm favourite.
She has also played a part in several big storylines. From her relationship with daughter Amy to her shock romances, her time in the famous village has not been short of drama.
Away from the soap, Laura is loved-up with actor Mark Jordon, who portrayed Daz Spencer on Emmerdale in 2014 and again between 2017 and 2019.
Lara and Mark met on the ITV set and got engaged in late 2018. They then welcomed a baby son named Jesse, in January 2021, followed by daughter Ronnie.
Recently though, Laura took to her social media and issued a health update with her followers, revealing she has entered perimenopause, which has caused a “blip” in her current fitness journey.
Via a post on her Instagram Laura said: “This is possibly an incredibly boring post for some. But a while ago I started a ’42 and Fit’ thread that a lot of followers invested in and showed an interest in and I keep getting messages asking how it’s going. I haven’t quit! I promise. And I want to show accountability with something that I started. As I feel some were getting comfort and a bit of motivation from.
“I’m tail end post partum. I went through postpartum hormone drop 2 years in a row. I’m older. I’m now perimenopausal and have 2 toddlers and a dog, l have a job and work for Cure Usher charity so I have found it tricky to work out where to factor in the time to exercise.”
Laura went on: “After 4 years without exercise I was managing HIlT 3 times a week in the morning. And was definitely feeling an improvement in my strengths and fitness….
“I have had a ‘blip’ over the last few weeks due to heavy work schedule. Getting up at 5am and back around 7.30 pm I genuinely did not have the spare time to do any sort of exercise. My current lifestyle doesn’t suit a 4am wake to fit it in.
“As a result I definitely feel more lethargic and sluggish. I have more time this week so l’m picking up where I left off with the exercise but I’m going to make some lifestyle changes as well. Earlier nights so I can wake earlier and have some time for myself to keep on top of it. I’m also going to change my diet. The times I eat and what I eat.”
She finished off her post and penned: “I’m going to keep documenting it on here as a little journey. It helps keep me motivated and I love hearing from others. We’re not alone.
If there’s any particular things anyone wants to see or hear please let me know! And I really want to hear about where those of you who have been messaging me are up to with all of this. Accountability and results!”
Laura’s fans and showbiz pals soon rushed to the comments section to send their support. Michelle Hardwick who plays Vanessa Woodfield commented three applause emojis and a love heart emoji.
Carly Hope star Gemma Atkinson also wrote: “Persistence over perfection everyday! Keep chipping away! As long as you feel good that’s what’s important.” Meanwhile one fan wrote: “Your amazing Laura, and this post us a testament to how strong you are. I always look forward to seeing your posts.”
Another another added: “Amazing well done it’s finding time when your busy with work family life go on you xx you look amazing anyway lovely lady.”
