Coronation Street fans are certain that a legend has confirmed her return – and fans reckon it’s for the Emmerdale crossover episode.

Early next year, for the first time in British soap history, an hour-long episode will see characters from both soaps come together in a celebration of the genre. The Rovers Return in Coronation Street and the Woolpack in Emmerdale

The special instalment, to air in January, will have “everlasting consequences for everyone involved”, with the two shows’ universes in Manchester and Yorkshire linked in an “ingenious way”.

Details of the episode are being kept under wraps, but in September, boss Iain MacLeod confirmed that a major character will be killed off as “the soap gods demand a sacrifice when you have an event of this kind”.

He also spoke about soap comebacks and promised a return from “a few familiar faces”. And now, viewers believe they have ‘worked out’ who is returning to the cobbles for the historic episode after spotting a huge ‘clue’.
